Petya, a Bulgarian living in the USA, just posted about what she loves about Bulgarians:
“What I really like about Bulgarians is our complete disregard for personal space: we are nosy neighbors, tell people how to raise the children, take a lot of group trips, talk to our parents several times a week, show up uninvited, pick fruit off any tree that’s within our reach. When I am in Bulgaria, I feel very connected. I love that.”
We got chatting about it, and decided it would be cool to hear your answers too. We know you’re an international bunch, so tell us:
What do you really like about your country?
And if you’re an expat:
What do you really like about your adoptive country?
I’ll go first: This poster – keep calm and carry on – sums up one thing I really like about Britain. The dog ate your lunch? Your house just collapsed? The financial system is 30 minutes away from meltdown? Keep calm and get on with your life. The first part of ‘carrying on’ usually involves making a cup of tea.
Over to you – leave a comment, write a post, or tell us on Twitter or Facebook. We’ll post the answers next week.

I live in Dallas now and I don’t like it very much except for the shopping and the great friends we’ve made.
and what do you love about Argentina?
Different things I love about Belgium (not my country but I like it): their sense of humour despite the horrible weather! His national hero/icon is a little boy, not a bad-tempered man on a horse; when you order a cup of coffee, the coffee is excellent and they also give you chocolates or cookies; they invented the Smurfs and Tintin and supposedly, they also invented les frites, so, French fries should change their name as they were born in Belgium 🙂
Loved your comment, Marta!
Liz, what do I like about Argentina? the fact that it’s home.
What do I dislike about Argentina? POLITICIANS (all of them)
Bulgaria is my adoptive land:D Here I’ve found some of the most beautiful nature I’ve ever seen. A country full of history and traditions, with many good people- once you get to know them: D my wife is from Lovech, and I am from Bogota, Colombia. We met in New York City and we moved here last May. We live in Blagoevgrad; I attend the American University in Bulgaria, the best of its kind in the Balkans. We live in a small family town, full of color and peace, one hour away from the heart of Bulgaria: the 7 Rila Lakes, 2 hours from Sofia and only 3 from Greece. It’s hard to describe Bulgaria with words. This land is all about the spirit: deep, intense, and passionate. Bulgaria will suprise you in countless ways, if you look beyond the surface.

In many ways I think Colombians and Bulgarians share this beauty of nature, and being true to what they are, unique people.
Al, thanks for this contribution! I have some good friends from Bulgaria and I heard similar stories from them too. Many best wishes to you.
what i love about my contry which is Bursa,Turkey;
when you are feeling down, not in the mood, there is always a door to knock..friends,neighboors,people in the bus, sellers…they will listen, believe me and somehow try to help..you feel that you are not alone(sometimes you want to be alone and you can not get your privacy in Turkey but for the bad times it helps a lot)
now i am living for a while in mexico
what i love about querétaro mexico is;their ability to change an ordinary weekday breakfast into a musical fiesta…their smile, their music and the way that they move “slow”…you feel that you are living and the time is not passing so rapid!
