Harassed Mum is written by LauraKim, a free spirit from Pretoria, South Africa.
She writes about her busy life as a single mum who is also studying. Exams finished this week so we would also like to say congratulations!
Not too busy to stop caring about others though – The South African blogosphere is currently campaigning to help out their friend who needs help for her son and LauraKim is one of the main organisers.
Thanks a lot to Louisa (previously featured in 123 South Africa on Blogs of the World) for taking the time to suggest some of her favourite South African blogs. This was one of them and we hope to feature more in future.
Now let’s hear from you. Do you think being a mother in South Africa sounds different to your country, or are there many things the same?

Wenchy, hope things work out 🙂
Most single parents consider the responsibilities of being an alone parent, beyond scary. I don’t. Raaising my 2 Daughters aged 8 Years and 4 Years on my own since birth, has been the easiest adjustment I could ever endure. Being a mother , guiding them , teaching them, wiping tears, fixing toys, talking about god, and making sure they know where their strength comes from, has not been the hardest part of bein a Mom.
I’m 30 Years old, and since I can remember, I’ve always dreamed of Being a mother. Not a wife, not a Princes, not on some Man’s arm… I just wanted to have my own children, support them, love them, take care of them, guide them , and give them every piece of my heart. Not knowing, that “Life’ was more challenging, than motherhood.
the Last year of being 30 and a mother has been the hardest part of my life sofar. My Year started out with Illness, 2 Months LaterUnemployment, 1 month Later, Labour court cases, Financial strain, A Broken relationship from my fiancee, 1 month before our wedding, stress of Being homeless, losing my Assets, Puutting my Daughters through losing the only man theyve ever seen in my life, or known as a father, although he wasnt their biological father, Performance issues at my daughters school, depression, My Father having a stroke, My Father passing away from a Heartattack, Taking responsibility for taking care of my Mother after my father passed away, and then going through the trauma, of not being able to deal with my Fathers death, and then being accused by my Mother of being the S’stress factor’, causing his death …. A Year I wouldn’t be able to go through again … After last year and all the Trauma, heartache, stress, dissapointment, I ended up having a Heartattack at age 30 on 27 October 2012… 3 Months down the line, and I am unemployed , and stressing beyond words, on how to be the Parent I know I was meant to be… After a Year uncompared, finding my Grace and guidance to once again step up, and step out, and be the Mother I know I am, has been beyond hard … I pray … That God will grant me the wisdom soon, so I can atleast be a blessing in this year to come …
