A (photo) tale of 50 states

March 14, 2009 Comments disabled

The 50 states project is a collaboration from photographers in 50 different states of the USA. Every two months they will post a photo from their state: the photos will be linked with a common theme.

The first theme was ‘people’. The result was a set of portraits from all over the USA, which you can see here.

It’s an interesting project because it’s easy to think of America as one country whereas in fact there are huge differences between different states. That’s what these photos try to capture.

For more information about this project have a look at this interview with the creator of the project Stuart Pilkington.

Do you live in the USA? What do you think of the photo from your state? Do you think it represents the people who live there?
