The Economist is now available to Chinese readers, but not through any official channels. An online community called The Eco Team translates the whole magazine every week for the benefit of people who read Chinese.

The unusual thing is that this translation is completely free: all the translators are volunteers. Even more impressive when you consider how many words are in one copy of the magazine. Ethan Zuckerman points out that paying for a professional translation of this size would cost you more than $10,000.

Apparently The Eco Team has official permission for their translation from The Economist, as long as they do not charge money for it. More here from Waxy.org
