Paddle steamers have been used as river transport in different parts of the United States including the Hudson River in New York State and the Mississippi river in Louisiana.
In 1811 the New Orleans was the first steamboat to travel the entire length of the Lower Mississippi River from Ohio to New Orleans. More recently, although no longer in commercial use, the picturesque boats have been used for tourist trips.

The Economist writes about the end of the line for America’s last paddle steamboat, which is due to cease operations later this year.
I worked for 3 years, in the 1970’s, on that beauty, the Delta Queen. She was an amazing symbol of an amazing period in US history. The fact that political infighting resulted in her being taken out of service is so indicative of the mean spirited, negative, self centered, immature and counter productive culture of American politics. Her travels along the inland waterways of America brought joy and pride to generations of Americans. Just the sight of her rounding a bend in the river or the sound of her steam calliope would bring entire towns to the river side to watch her pass.
This article and image are so nice about paddle-steamer .In 1800 century all kind of biggest transport was made by paddle-steamer. Today it is used for tourist. I travel in my country by paddle-steamer-rocket to visit forest and river.
We have a fleet of century old paddle steamers in Bangladesh which are still in operation. They were built in the colonial period and still serving as a passenger boat.
