Nuria,
I always love your articles. Thank you so much for sending me this information from Pocket Cultures! I think that your article about living the Pura Vida is very accurate; while living in CR I experienced the same daily routine and lifestyle. And, I agree with the things you said about CR. I loved the peace, the freedom, the friendly people and great weather! I miss all of those things and would love to return someday. I'm still waiting on UCR to accept my titles! Pura Vida!

This post was really interesting to me. I wanted to learn about Canadian culture because I'm Alaskan and can see many differences between our culture and American (Alaskan culture seems to be very close to Canadian).
It was also nice seeing some Canadian stereotypes, according to Alaska stereotypes: we live in igloos, ride our moose everywhere, and you will see a few polar bears during your daily life. It's nice seeing that more people like to laugh at the random things people say about them.
Thanks for the article, it was helpful and nice to read.~

I live in Montréal, and would have no use for a huge fridge, moreover I hate icecubes. I prefer to shop daily or almost (I live very close to Marché Jean-Talon, a large public market). But I doubt the poster is from here, probably has more suburban habits.

There are definitely things I prefer about Canadians (whether Québécois or English Canadians - my German friends can be rather too brutally candid while we are much more "polite" - but in this case I am ashamed that the Canadian expat didn't see how wasteful an oversized "luxury" fridge is, and such a waste of resources and energy.

Very interesting! I had no idea that Australia has attracted so much immigration. As for making a sport of beer sculling, I guess that's one thing that the UK and Australia have in common :)

This post is very interesting; it reminded me of the customs I grew up with in Panama, where entertaining guests was very informal.

Friends, family and neighbors would pop in anytime and stayed as long as they wanted; we would offer food and drinks and it would be considered impolite to refuse, no was not an option. You always cooked enough food...just in case someone dropped in.

I see a little bit of every country mentioned here in our customs, must be the influence of the many nationalities that once populated the country at one time or the other. (French, American, British, Caribbean and others)

Good post!
